This is the third Levoit in this catalogue whose published coverage survives the arithmetic, which is worth saying because plenty of brands' figures do not.

Always compare two purifiers at the same air-change rate; manufacturers pick different ones and the headline square footage is not otherwise comparable.

Worked from the CDC/NIOSH relation air changes = (CADR × 60) ÷ (area × ceiling height), assuming an 8 ft ceiling. Change the ceiling height and these numbers change. AHAM’s own consumer rule — a smoke CADR of at least two-thirds of the room’s area — puts the ceiling for this unit at about 215 ft², which is the same arithmetic at roughly five air changes an hour.

CARB lists it Mechanical. The complete CARB list carries "Levoit | Air Purifier | LAP-V102S-WUS | Mechanical | 2023-03-09 | G-23-052", with the LAP-V102S-AUSR under the same order and the LAP-V102S-KUS under G-23-278 from 2023-11-02.

Mechanical means California's certifier identified no ozone-generating component, so the unit was not subject to the ozone emission test that Electronic devices must pass. Levoit's page describes no ionizer, no UV lamp and no ozone-producing stage, and offers no switch for one.

If you have been going by a figure you read for a Vital 100, it does not describe this filter. No hours-per-day assumption is published behind either figure, so neither can be scaled arithmetically to your own use. What Levoit does give you here is a washable pre-filter: keeping it clean is the lever that actually moves the interval, and it costs nothing.
