Levoit's 3-stage cartridge for the Vital 100S-P. Levoit describes the three layers as a "Washable Pre-Filter: Traps hair, dust, and large particles", a "Main Filter: Removes 99.97% of particles down to 0.3 µm", and an "Activated Carbon Layer: Reduces gases and odors (FSC-certified wood carbon)".

The washable pre-filter is the detail that separates this from Levoit's Core range: on the Core 400S cartridge the stages are bonded and nothing is washable. Here Levoit says one stage can be washed, which changes the maintenance and, over a year, the cost.

The efficiency figure is Levoit's own statement. No public certification exists for consumer air purifier filters, so it describes the media rather than what the unit delivers to a room.

⚠️ THE SISTER MODEL IS DIFFERENT, AND THE NUMBERS DO NOT MATCH. Levoit's page for the Vital 100 (no S) cartridge says "every 6-8 months". Same range, adjacent model names, two different windows. If you have been going by a figure you read for a Vital 100, it does not describe this filter.

No hours-per-day assumption is published behind either figure, so neither can be scaled arithmetically to your own use. What Levoit does give you here is a washable pre-filter: keeping it clean is the lever that actually moves the interval, and it costs nothing.

Genuine vs third-party filters

Levoit's stated position on this range is about its own indicator rather than about third-party quality, and it is worth quoting precisely because it is easy to overstate: Levoit says its filter life indicator and built-in algorithm work with its genuine filters. That is a statement about the counter, not a measurement of how an aftermarket filter performs.

Levoit also publishes, elsewhere, that it recommends gently vacuuming its filters. Honeywell states the opposite about its own hardware — that its filters should not be washed or cleaned. Two manufacturers, opposite instructions, each about their own machine. The manual for your unit is the only one that applies to it.
